    Will You Be of Those Freed Tonight?

* Virtues of Ramadan - 31

#freedom #ramadan #ramadankarem #dua #ramzan
    Be conscious and mindful of every act that you do and have a clear intention of why you are doing that particular act, even when eating and sleeping (e.g. to gain energy for worship).

Utilise iʿtikāf to learn how to manage your time. Be strict with yourself. It is useful to make a plan beforehand. Structure your day and night with varied acts of worship, so you don’t get bored or lose focus. If possible, leave your smartphone at home, and if required to do so, take a brick phone.

Remember to not ruin your worship by hurting your fellow believers. In iʿtikāf, you will be sharing space with others. All of you will have different personalities, backgrounds and preferred lifestyles, and this could sometimes lead to conflict. Stay humble, and focus on why you are there.

    For the ninth consecutive day, the Israeli occupation continues to keep al-Masjid al-Aqṣā closed to worshippers in the most sacred of all months.

To continue to close one of the holiest sites in Islam and bar the believers from prayer in the blessed month of Ramaḍān is a grave injustice and a blatant violation of the sanctity of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā and the rights of the Muslims.

Continue to speak about al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, raise awareness, and do not let a single duʿā’ pass without mentioning al-Masjid al-Aqṣā.

O Allah, protect al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, from the aggression of the aggressors, the plots of the schemers, and the oppression and defilement of the Zionist occupation.

O Allah, make it honoured and lofty until the Day of Judgement.

    Surah al-Hujurat - Reflection 18
Block Backbiting

• Backbiting, spying, and fault-finding violate the trust and unity of the Muslim community. The Qur’ān conveys its abhorrence in the strongest terms: backbiting is likened to eating the flesh of one’s dead brother — a horrifying act, detested by human nature and even avoided by many animals. This powerful imagery underscores the severity of the sin and the moral corruption it brings.

• Allah commands taqwā as a safeguard against such acts, prompting believers toward self-purification and vigilance over their speech and actions.

• Scholars advise that repentance involves ceasing the sin immediately, resolving never to return to it, and making amends, often by speaking well of the person previously wronged and preventing others from backbiting them. Direct confrontation may not always be required if it causes more harm; the goal is to restore dignity and counter the harm done.

• A society rooted in trust and moral vigilance flourishes, while suspicion and slander corrode relationships and communities. Cultivating taqwā protects hearts, strengthens bonds, and ensures that believers act with respect, care, and integrity toward one another. Importantly, Allah is Ever-Forgiving and Merciful, and sincere repentance is always accepted.

Reflect: The image in this āyah of eating your dead brother’s flesh is meant to make us shudder and provoke disgust. Have our hearts become desensitised to this great evil? Do we truly find it repulsive?

Reflect: How does Allah end this āyah? Why?

Act: Ask Allah for forgiveness, repent to Him, and ask Him to help you recognise the seriousness of backbiting, to feel its ugliness, and to protect you from it.
