Reciting the Qur’ān and memorising its words are noble acts. But they must be accompanied by reflection and a sincere commitment to live the Qur’ān.
Allah (ʿazza wa jall) says:

“This is a blessed Book which We revealed to you, so that they reflect upon its verses, and those with understanding may take heed” (38:29).

Make this Ramaḍān a month of tilāwah with tadabbur.

For the second consecutive day, the Israeli occupation continues to close al-Masjid al-Aqṣā in the faces of worshippers, preventing them from performing prayers and acts of worship during the blessed month of Ramaḍān, citing a so-called “state of emergency” following the Israeli-American war on Iran.

Whilst masājid across the world stand alive with ṣalāh, Tarāwīḥ and the recitation of the Qur’ān, our first qiblah stands empty.

Al-Masjid al-Aqṣā continues to be subjected to repeated assaults that do not cease. Year after year, and day after day, restrictions are renewed, incursions continue, and worshippers are turned away.

Continue to remember al-Masjid al-Aqṣā in your duʿās.

    Surah al-Hujurat - Reflection 12
Reconciliation & Justice

• This verse lays down a clear Qur’ānic framework for dealing with conflict among believers. Īmān does not make a person infallible, but it calls them back to the truth when they err. When signs of conflict appear, the community is commanded to intervene swiftly, seeking reconciliation and calling both sides to the judgement of Allah.

• Notably, Allah does not strip either group of īmān, even if fighting occurs. The problem is not disbelief, but baghy: transgression driven by ego, anger, or the whispers of Shayṭān. If one side persists in injustice after reconciliation is offered, the community must stand firmly against the transgressor, not out of vengeance, but to restore justice and return matters to Allah’s command.

• Once the aggressor desists, the Qur’ān commands fairness without bias. Justice is not optional; it is the only means by which hearts are healed, resentment is removed, and rights are restored. The Prophet ﷺ clarified this principle when he said: “Help your brother whether he is oppressed or an oppressor.” Helping the oppressor, he explained, is preventing him from committing injustice.

Reflect: A believing community is not one without conflict, but one that heals conflict through truth, fairness, and fear of Allah. How just are you in situations of conflict? Do you sway towards someone’s point of view just because they are your friend/relative?

Act: Find someone in your community who is not your relative, friend or from the same background as you. Form a friendship with them, simply because you are both united by īmān.

This ḥadīth illustrates the wisdom behind fasting. It is not merely to give up food, drink and intimacy, but rather it is to be conscious of Allah (ʿazza wa jall) in every action.
