Best Deed For Laylat al-Qadr: Qiyam

The best deed a person can perform on Laylat al-Qadr is qiyām. We should stand in prayer at night with:

(1) īmān i.e. believing firmly that Allah has asked us to do this and that He loves this deed, expressing our servitude and obedience to Him, and carrying out the deed out of deep love for Him, yearning for Him, shyness from Him, fear of Him, and hope in Him.

(2) iḥtisāb i.e. seeking reward only from Allah (and not from anyone else), performing it sincerely for Him alone, and not for any other motive.

Make The Most of the Last Odd Night of Ramadan

#precious #ramadan #ramazan #laylatulqadr #ramadhan
As Muslims search for Laylat al-Qadr tonight, with many masājid completing the Qur’ān in Tarāwīḥ and increasing in duʿā’, al-Masjid al-Aqṣā remains closed under occupation, its courtyards empty of worshippers on what could be the greatest night of the year.

And as Eid draws closer, the Israeli occupation has announced that al-Masjid al-Aqṣā will remain shut on Eid al-Fiṭr and beyond.

“Who does more wrong than those who prevent Allah’s Name from being mentioned in His places of worship and strive to destroy them? Such people have no right to enter these places except with fear. For them is disgrace in this world, and they will suffer a tremendous punishment in the Hereafter.” (2:114)

    Surah al-Hujurat - Reflection 28
The Secret to Societal Success

Allah concludes this Surah with a powerful reminder.

• This āyah reminds believers that nothing escapes Allah’s knowledge. Every thought, intention, and action, whether hidden or apparent, is fully known to Him.

• The repetition of His Name (‘Allah’) emphasises His majesty and inspires reverence, impressing upon the believers’ hearts the importance of sincerity in every act.

• Constant awareness of Allah’s observation — in secret and in public — cultivates personal and societal discipline. Unlike human systems of surveillance, which are limited and often flawed, God-consciousness instills an internal accountability. This awareness strengthens the moral and social fabric of communities, ensuring that people protect each other’s rights and act responsibly.
Islam elevates believers to the station of iḥsān: “to worship Allah as if you see Him; and if you do not see Him, He sees you.”

• In summary, this concluding verse unites īmān, vigilance, and ethical responsibility..Belief in Allah’s all-encompassing knowledge encourages personal reform, promotes societal harmony, and elevates the believer to the station of iḥsān.

Reflect: Being around others who are conscious of Allah helps us to do the same. What practical step can you take to spend more time around such people?

Act: The next time you feel tempted to sin or to say/do something hurtful to someone, remind yourself of this āyah.
