This exercise is designed to help you prepare a deep and meaningful duʿā’ list. It will guide you step-by-step to reflect, organise your thoughts, and connect your heart to Allah in a focused and sincere way.
You can type your duʿā’ list or write it by hand in a notebook or journal. Choose whichever method helps you feel more present, connected, will be easily accessible to you, and you can keep private.
Set aside a few quiet hours to do this exercise. Ideally, find a peaceful space free from distractions where you can truly reflect. This is not something to rush. It’s a beautiful act of devotion.
As you answer each question, pause to reflect and then write down your personal duʿās. Alongside your own heartfelt words and other duʿās you are likely to have, be sure to include powerful duʿās from the Qur’ān and Sunnah. Please refer to My Duʿa Companion or the Dhikr&Dua App by Life with Allah.
Aim for your final duʿā’ list to be at least 15 pages long: a sincere, comprehensive conversation with your Lord, one that you carry with you in special days (e.g. Ramaḍān) and times, and into the sacred moments of ḥajj and ʿumrah.
Be sure to copy any goals you set during this exercise into a separate document or journal, and start working towards them over the coming months. Taking small, consistent steps will help you turn your duʿās into lived actions, inshāAllah.
Start by reciting taʿawwudh, basmalah and send ṣalawāt upon the Prophet ﷺ.
Relationship with Allah
The first step to living an Allah-centred life is to improve our relationship with Allah. When we repair our relationship with Allah, He repairs everything else for us.
- Set a timer for 10 minutes and make a list of all the blessings Allah has granted you. Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah from the depths of your heart for each of these individual blessings. Beg Allah to continue showering you with His blessings and ask for His forgiveness in areas where you may not have recognised His blessings and/or used these blessings to earn His pleasure.
- How strong is your īmān in Allah and His Messenger ﷺ? Rate the strength of your īmān out of 10. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to strengthen your īmān, increase you in understanding, and grant you steadfastness in your belief.
- Who is Allah to you? Write down everything that comes to your mind when you think of Him: His Names, His Attributes, His majesty, and His mercy.
- What have you done to understand who Allah is? Note the steps you have taken so far, and write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for the blessing of knowing Him, while also begging His forgiveness for not knowing Him as deeply as He deserves.
- Reflect on any areas where you feel you need more knowledge of Allah. What specific steps can you take? Write a duʿā’ asking Allah for the opportunity and means to take these steps and learn more about Him.
- How would you assess the quality of your ṣalāh? Reflect on your ṣalāh: Have you been consistent in performing all five prayers? Do you have qaḍā’ ṣalāh to make up? Do you pray with khushūʿ (humility and concentration)? Do you pray with understanding what you are reciting? Are you regular with your sunnah prayers? Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for any positives and asking for forgiveness for areas where you’ve fallen short.
- What new goals do you want to set for yourself in improving your ṣalāh? Note these down. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to help you achieve these goals, to guide you to greater focus and devotion, and to accept your efforts in His path.
- Do you have any fasts to make up? Take note of them and commit to completing them as soon as possible. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to make it easy for you and help you fulfill this obligation with sincerity.
- Are you up-to-date with your zakāh payments? If not, make the payment today. This is an essential duty that purifies your wealth and helps those in need.
- How often do you give ṣadaqah? Reflect on your current practice. Do you have any regular donations set up? Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for the opportunity to give, and ask Him to accept it.
- Set yourself a new goal for consistent ṣadaqah, even if it’s a small amount like £1 per day/week. Set this up now. Write a duʿā’ to Allah, asking Him to make this easy for you and to accept it as a means of drawing closer to Him.
- How is your relationship with the Qur’ān? How often do you recite it, reflect on its meanings, and try to implement its teachings in your life? Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for the moments when you’ve connected with the Qur’ān, and ask for His forgiveness for any shortcomings in your connection with His Book.
- What new goals do you want to set for yourself in relation to the Qur’ān? Write down your intentions and ask Allah to help you stay steadfast and sincere in your efforts to strengthen your relationship with His Book.
- In the past year, how often have you remembered or spoken directly to Allah on a daily basis (excluding ṣalāh)? Reflect on this and write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for the moments when you were aware of His presence. Beg Allah for forgiveness for any neglect or heedlessness, and ask Him to make you among those who constantly remember Him.
- How conscious are you of pleasing Allah and avoiding what He dislikes? Do you regularly sacrifice temptations or avoid sins solely to earn Allah’s pleasure? Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to grant you true taqwā, and to make your heart sincerely dedicated to Him and His commands.
- How often in a day do you thank Allah for the countless blessings He has given you? Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for His endless favors and ask Him to make you among His most grateful servants, recognising and appreciating all that He has bestowed upon you.
- Think of all the major sins you have committed in your life. For each major sin, express your deep remorse and ask Allah for His forgiveness. Beg Allah from the depths of your heart, promising never to return to these sins again, as there is no one else who can forgive except Him.
- Reflect on a typical day and identify any minor sins you may be habitually committing:
- Note them down and then write a duʿā’ for each one, showing sincere regret, asking Allah to forgive you, and making a commitment to never repeat those actions again.
- If any of the sins you’ve listed (major or minor) involved hurting another person and you are aware of that, take the courageous step to sincerely apologise to them, ideally in person. Make a firm intention never to repeat the wrong and commit to making amends by doing extra good towards them. Then, for each individual, write a heartfelt duʿā’, asking Allah to bless them, heal any harm you caused, and bring goodness to their life through His mercy.
- Reflect on your current practices and areas where you can grow closer to Allah:
- Make a list of all the actions you could take to improve your relationship with Allah.
- From this list, choose three actions that you want to commit to for the rest of your life. Select the ones that resonate deeply with you and that you believe will have the most positive impact on your relationship with Allah.
- Write a duʿā’ begging Allah to make it easy for you to consistently commit to these actions, to make the path towards them joyful and fulfilling, to grant you steadfastness in implementing them throughout your life, and to accept them from you.
Relationship With Prophet ﷺ
(O Messenger!) Say: ‘If you truly love Allah, follow me, and Allah will love you and will forgive you your sins. Allah is All-Forgiving, All-Compassionate.’ (3:31)
21. Take a moment to reflect on how the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through his actions, words, and character has shaped your life. In what ways has his example positively influenced you? List these down. Now imagine your life without his guidance: how different would it be?
22. Write a heartfelt duʿā’ thanking Allah for each of these blessings that came through the Prophet ﷺ. Ask Allah to send abundant peace and blessings upon him and his family for being the most perfect role model for all of humanity.
23. How many times do you send ṣalawāt to the Prophet ﷺ every day? Set yourself a new daily goal and ask Allah to help you fulfil that goal.
24. How well do you know the Prophet ﷺ? Is there more you can learn about his life, teachings, and character? Set yourself three specific goals to deepen your love and knowledge of him ﷺ. Write a sincere duʿā’ asking Allah to open the doors for you to learn more, to act upon his Sunnah, and to grow in love for him.
25. Are there any of the Prophet’s Companions (ṣaḥābah) who particularly inspire you? Reflect on what you’ve learned from their lives. Note their names and contributions, and write a special duʿā’ for each one, thanking Allah for their sacrifices and asking Him to reunite you with them in Paradise.
26. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with many visits to the blessed city of Madinah, to die in Madinah as a martyr, to unite you in the highest grades of Jannah with the Prophet ﷺ, His Companions, all the Prophets, martyrs and pious people; and to bless you to drink from the Prophet’s fountain in the Hereafter
Self-development
If you fix your heart, your whole body will be fixed.
27. Make a list of areas in your character or heart that need improvement. This will require sincere introspection, so take your time. Consider the following examples and reflect on how they might apply to you:
-
- Are you able to manage your emotions during difficult times?
- Are you patient, or do you find it challenging to wait for things to unfold in their time?
- Do you experience jealousy towards others?
- Do you engage in backbiting or gossip?
- Do you have a sharp tongue that you use in moments of frustration?
- Do you sometimes look down on others or feel superior?
- Do you lie easily?
- How do you respond when someone close to you mistreats you?
- Do you struggle with the need for control?
Reflect honestly on these traits and any other areas/habits where you need to improve. List them down.
28. For each flaw you’ve identified, write a sincere duʿā’ to Allah, asking for His forgiveness. Beg Him to remove that flaw from your heart and replace it with a beautiful quality that pleases Him. Ask Allah to purify your heart and guide you towards traits that bring you closer to Him and make you a better person in His eyes.
29. Set a goal to work on each flaw and actively improve your character. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to help you in this journey, to grant you the strength and patience to rectify each flaw, and to support you in becoming the best version of yourself, for His sake.
30. Reflect on a typical day or week in your life. Are you utilising your time in the best way possible? If not, create a table: on one side, list the habits, distractions, or activities that you need to reduce or remove; on the other, write down the positive actions or habits you want to replace them with: those that bring you closer to Allah and align with your true goals.
31. For each pair, write a heartfelt duʿā’, asking Allah to help you eliminate what hinders you and replace it with actions that lead to His pleasure and bring you closer to your ultimate purpose in this life and the next.
Jannah: The Ultimate Goal
Jannah is not just a reward, it is the ultimate home our hearts are always yearning for.
32. Write a duʿā’ begging Allah for a good beautiful ending, in which your final words are lā ilāha illā Allah and you are in total obedience to Him, ready to meet Him.
33. Reflect on the punishment of the grave and the punishment of the Hellfire. Write a duʿā’ begging Allah to protect you from the torments of the grave and Hellfire. Beg Allah to make your grave a garden from the Gardens of Paradise.
34. List everything in your life right now that you believe is drawing you closer to Jannah, whether it’s actions, habits, or moments of sincerity. For each one, write a heartfelt duʿā’: thank Allah for the blessing, and ask His forgiveness for any shortcomings in it.
35. Now list anything in your life (big or small) that may be pulling you away from Jannah and leading you toward Jahannam. Be honest. For each one, write a sincere duʿā’ begging Allah to remove it from your life, and replace it with something better. [If it is a new goal, add it to your goal sheet].
36. Close your eyes and imagine yourself in Jannah. What do you see? What do you hear? Who is with you? What do you feel, taste, or smell? Write a duʿā’ pouring your heart out to Allah, begging Him for direct entry into Jannah, without punishment and without reckoning.
37. How deeply do you long to see Allah, the Most Merciful, in Jannah? Take a moment to reflect. Then write a duʿā’ from the depths of your heart, pleading with Allah for the honour and joy of seeing His Noble Face in the eternal gardens.
Health and Wellbeing
Good health is one of the greatest blessings. Cherish it before it fades.
38. Reflect on your health. Are you fit and healthy? Consider the steps you can take to improve your physical wellbeing. Write these down, and then write a duʿā’, asking Allah to grant you the strength and will to follow through with these steps and to bless you with good health.
39. Do you have any health conditions or illnesses? Reflect on how they affect your life and the lives of those around you. Write a duʿā’, asking Allah to remove these ailments from your body and replace them with complete health and wellness.
40. Are there any bad habits or addictions that hinder your physical or mental wellbeing? List them, along with the steps you can take to overcome them [add to your goal list]. Write a duʿā’ for each, begging Allah for help in removing these harmful habits and granting you the ability to replace them with healthy, beneficial actions.
41. Consider your mental health. Do you struggle with anxiety, loneliness, or other mental challenges? Write a duʿā’, asking Allah to bless you with peace of mind, free from anxiety, and to grant you emotional strength and stability.
Work/Study/Finances
Greed leads to decrease in blessings, while contentment and gratitude lead to increase in blessings
42. Is your intention to study or work to seek the pleasure of Allah alone? If not, pause and renew your intention. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to accept it from you. For example: “I am working as a builder to serve Allah’s creation and to provide for my family, as Allah has commanded. O Allah, please accept this from me and make it sincerely and solely for Your pleasure.”
43. Write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with abundant, ḥalāl rizq (provision), granted with ease and barakah.
44. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with a spacious beautiful home that is full of barakah and serenity, where seeking His pleasure is the ultimate goal.
45. What is currently going well in your school or work? Make a list of all the things that are going smoothly or positively, and write a duʿā’ sincerely thanking Allah for each one.
46. Are you facing any difficulties or challenges in your studies or at work? List them all, and write a duʿā’ begging Allah to help you overcome each of them with ease and strength.
47. Now think of three meaningful ways you can improve in your work or studies [add to your goal list]. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with the ability, consistency, and sincerity to implement each of these improvements, and even more than what you envision.
48. Are you taking a regular weekly class to get close to Allah? If yes, ask Allah to accept it and bless it. If not, write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with a fruitful class that brings you close to Him. [Add this to your goal list].
Hajj/ʿUmrah/Aqsa/Travel
49. What kind of ḥajj/ʿumrah do you hope to perform? What are the goals you want to achieve during this sacred journey? Reflect and write them down clearly. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with a ḥajj/ʿumrah that transforms your heart, deepens your connection with Him, and fulfills your highest hopes and inspirations.
50. Now write a special duʿā’ begging Allah to grant you a ḥajj mabrūr: one that is accepted by Him, through which all your sins are forgiven, and you return home as pure as the day you were born.
51. Reflect on why you want to visit Masjid-al-Aqsa. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless you with many visits to al-Masjid-al-Aqsa, and to accept you and your progeny as the protectors, defenders and liberators of Masjid-al-Aqsa.
Life Vision, Mission and Legacy
Your life vision is the big picture: the ultimate outcome you hope to achieve. It’s a clear and inspiring image of the future you want to live: one shaped by your values, purpose, and the legacy you wish to leave behind. It answers the question: What kind of life do I want to live for the sake of Allah?
52. What is your life vision? Note this down.
Example:
“I want to live a life that is pleasing to my Lord: one that is positive, purposeful, and filled with contentment. A life in which I am always striving to become a better servant of Allah and a source of goodness to His creation. I pray that this journey leads me to inner peace in this world and Jannah in the next, inshāAllah.”
But how will you get there? That brings us to your mission, the path you’ll take using the gifts Allah has given you.
53. What is your mission?
What strengths, talents, skills or opportunities has Allah placed in your hands? Note these down. Your mission is how you intend to use those to work towards your vision. Write down your mission statement and vision.
Example:
“Allah has blessed me with the gift of writing. I will use this skill to craft meaningful fiction that reflects the values of Islam and benefits me and the ummah, in a way that increases īmān and transforms hearts and nations.”
Remember, everyone has a unique skill set, whether it’s parenting, teaching, cooking, counselling, or even sports. When used with the right intention, every skill can become a means of serving Allah and earning His pleasure.
54. Outline a plan to fulfil this mission. Set three goals to start this project.
55. Now, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to grant you your life vision, bless your mission and goals, and make it a source of lasting reward in both worlds.
Your Other Personal Needs/Wants
Don’t think of duʿā’ in human terms. Allah is not in need of anything from you. Rather, He loves it when you call upon Him. So ask Him for more and more and more. He is pleased and proud when you raise your hands to Him, and He boasts to the angels about you. But when you turn to others besides Him in supplication, you fall into shirk: the only sin He has warned will not be forgiven without repentance. So turn to Him alone, sincerely and wholeheartedly.
56. Is there anything else your own heart desires? Perhaps it is a Ferrari, or you want to be able to understand classical Arabic, or you dream to tour the world, or you want to meet a leading Shaykh, or perhaps you have an ardent desire to skydive. Whatever it is, write all of these desires and wants down in the form of duʿās, and beg Allah to grant them to you if they are good for you in this life and the next.
Family
“The best of you are the best to their families, and I am the best to my family.”
– Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ (Tirmidhi)
57. Reflect on your role within your household. Are you easy to live with? Do you have any habits (big or small) that may bother or annoy others?
-
- Be honest with yourself and list them.
- Now, write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for blessing you with family members who show patience with your shortcomings. Express your gratitude to them as well.
- Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to help you overcome these traits and replace them with beautiful character, for His sake.
58. If you are married, reflect on the good qualities of your spouse. Note them all down, and write a heartfelt duʿā’ thanking Allah for each one. Thank your spouse too.
59. If you are not married, list the top ten qualities you are seeking in a spouse. Then write a duʿā’ sincerely asking Allah to bless you with a righteous partner who possesses those traits.
60. Are there additional qualities you hope your current (or future) spouse will have? Write these down. First, ask Allah to bless you with these qualities yourself, and then write a duʿā’ asking Him to grant them to your spouse as well.
61. Write a duʿā’ for Allah to bless your marriage (or future one) with immense barakah (blessings), kindness and love, and for your marriage to be rooted in Allah’s pleasure.
62. Make a list of all your other family members, including any in-laws or extended relatives you interact with regularly. For each person, write down the top three things they’ve done for you. Thank Allah for blessing you with them, and write a special duʿā’ asking Allah to reward and protect each individual.
63. If you have children, list each one by name. Note down their good qualities and areas they could improve on. Write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for their strengths, and for each area of growth, write a duʿā’ begging Allah to guide and nurture them in the best way. Don’t forget to write a duʿā’ begging Allah to make them righteous, pious, and kind.
64. If you are a parent:
-
- Take time to reflect on the parenting challenges you’re currently facing. Write them down honestly, and write a duʿā’ begging Allah to help you overcome each one with knowledge, wisdom, patience, and strength.
- Reflect and note down things you can do to become an excellent parent. Add these to your goals list. For each of these, beg Allah to grant you this blessing with ease.
- Have you harmed any of your children? If yes, apologise to them, make amends, and make du’a to Allah to remove all the traces of harm.
65. Think about your behaviour toward your parents. Are you kind, respectful, and loving? Do you serve and honour them as Allah has commanded? Note down ways you can be the best child to them, and add these to your goals list. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to help you fulfil those acts of kindness and treat them with compassion and iḥsān (excellence).
66. What kind of sibling are you? Are you showing kindness, respect, and support to your brothers and sisters? Reflect on ways you could become a great sibling. Note three goals down. Now write a duʿā’ asking Allah to help you with these specific actions.
67. Think of three things you would love to see change or improve in your family. Write them down clearly and add to your goals list what you can do to contribute to these changes. Write a special duʿā’ for each one, begging Allah to bring about positive, lasting change.
68. Is there anyone in your family — close or extended — that you need to apologise to? Make a note of who that is, and make it a priority to reach out and apologise sincerely. Also, write a duʿā’ asking Allah to bless and soften their hearts, and grant them every good in both worlds (and any other special duʿās you can think of).
69. For each of your grandparents — whether alive or deceased — note down their beautiful qualities and what they have done for you. Now write down a special duʿā’ for each of them based on your notes. Don’t forget to ask to be united with them in the highest levels of Jannah.
70. If you are married, take a moment to write a heartfelt duʿā’ for your parents-in-law. Ask Allah to bless them with goodness in both worlds and to nurture a strong, loving relationship between you, one rooted in kindness, understanding, and His divine love.
71. Is there anyone in your family (close or extended) with whom you have a difficult or strained relationship? Note down who they are. This is a precious opportunity to seek Allah’s pleasure by mending what’s broken. Go and meet them in person. Offer a sincere apology (if helpful), and take a thoughtful gift with you as a gesture of goodwill and love. Write down a special duʿā’ for that person, and in addition ask Allah to soften and unify your hearts and heal and repair your relationship.
72. Write a heartfelt duʿā’ for your entire family: from our forefather Ādam (ʿalayhis-salām), to every one of your descendants who will come until the Day of Judgement. Ask Allah to bless, guide, forgive, and unite your entire lineage in His mercy in the highest grades of Jannah, with the Prophet ﷺ, and to accept each and all to serve His dīn.
73. What three personal goals can you set yourself to become a better family member? Write them down, and write a duʿā’ begging Allah to help you achieve it with ease and sincerity.
74. Think of three meaningful activities you’d love to do as a family in the coming year. Ensure they are ḥalāl, wholesome, and pleasing to Allah, and yes, they can be fun too! Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to grant your family the opportunity to enjoy these experiences together, with barakah, joy and acceptance.
75. What three personal goals can you set yourself to become a better extended family member? Write them down, and write a duʿā’ begging Allah to help you achieve it with ease and sincerity.
Friends
A true friend is one who mentions Allah to you, in your presence; and mentions you to Allah, in your absence.
76. Make a list of all your friends. Next to each name, write down how they’ve supported, comforted, or been there for you. Then, from the depths of your heart, write a special duʿā’ for each friend: a prayer you sincerely hope Allah will accept for them.
77. Are there friends who sometimes frustrate you, or whose habits you struggle with? Write down their names and the specific behaviours that concern you. Then, write a duʿā’ asking Allah to guide them and help remove those habits in a way that is pleasing to Him.
78. Have you ever wronged or hurt a friend and never apologised? Make a note to sincerely apologise to them. Alongside that, write a duʿā’ asking Allah to forgive you, bless them, and strengthen your bond in goodness.
79. Do you have friends who remind you of Allah, who inspire you to do good and seek His pleasure? If so, write a note of thanks to Allah for each one of them. If not, write a heartfelt duʿā’ begging Allah to bless you with righteous, uplifting friendships that revolve around His love and obedience.
80. Now think of three ways you could become a better friend and add these to your goals list. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to grant you these qualities, and even more, so you can be a friend who brings goodness to others in both this life and the next.
Neighbours
“Whoever believes in Allah and the Last Day, let him honour his neighbour.” – Prophet Muḥammad ﷺ (Muslim)
81. Make a list of your neighbours. Reflect on any kindness, companionship, or support they’ve shown you, and write down what you appreciate about each one. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to bless every one of them with goodness in both this world and the next.
82. Have you ever wronged or hurt any of your neighbours — whether through words, actions, or neglect? Make a note to sincerely apologise to them, and write a special duʿā’ asking Allah to forgive you, and to bless and soften their hearts.
83. Now think of three kind, thoughtful things you can do for your neighbours — perhaps a gift, a helping hand, or a warm check-in, and add these to your goals list. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to grant you the opportunity and sincerity to carry out each of these acts to solely earn His pleasure.
84. Do you have any non-Muslim neighbours in your area? Write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to guide them to the truth and to make you a kind, sincere means of daʿwah and guidance through your words, actions, and character.
Teachers/Imams/Colleagues/Students
“Whoever is not grateful to people is not grateful to Allah.” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Aḥmad)
85. Reflect on the people who’ve contributed to your journey of learning and growth. Make a list of all the teachers (from nursery to now) who have taught you something beneficial (this includes scholars who you have learnt from online and scholars in the past). Note down what you learned from each. Write a heartfelt duʿā’ for each one, thanking Allah for them and asking Him to reward them generously. If possible, express your thanks to them personally.
86. Think of your key colleagues or classmates. Reflect on how each of them has supported or positively influenced your path. Write this down. Then write a duʿā’ thanking Allah for placing them in your life, and include a personal duʿā’ for each one by name. Try to thank them directly if you haven’t already.
87. If you have students, list the names of those you remember. Write a sincere duʿā’ for each one.
88. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to protect and bless all your teachers, students, colleagues, and acquaintances. Ask Him to make heavy on their scales everything they have done for you, and bless you with the opportunity to re-pay them.
Masjid & Local Community
Believers are one body in compassion.
89. Are you currently serving your local community or masjid? If so, list the ways in which you are involved. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ thanking Allah for each opportunity, and ask His forgiveness for your shortcomings and mistakes along the way.
90. If you’re not currently involved, write a sincere duʿā’ begging Allah to choose you to serve His dīn and His creation, and to open the doors for you with ease and barakah.
91. Do you have an idea or aspiration of how you could serve your local community or masjid? Note them down and set them as goals. Write a duʿā’ asking Allah to guide you, open the way for you, and grant you sincerity and steadfastness in that service.
92. Take a moment to reflect on what your local community and masjid truly need. What changes, services, or improvements would benefit the people around you? Write down your thoughts. Then, write a sincere duʿā’ asking Allah to bless your community and masjid with these specific improvements (and more), and to make you a means of bringing positive change, with sincerity and acceptance.
The Muslim Ummah
Believers are one body in compassion.
93. Make a list of all the countries where Muslims are currently suffering. For each one, take the time to do some research: understand the reasons behind their hardship, the nature of their oppression, and what potential solutions might exist. Let your heart feel their pain deeply.
94. Reflect on the people involved: Who among them deserves your heartfelt duʿā’ for relief, support, and protection? And who are the oppressors whom you should make duʿā’ against, asking Allah to stop their injustice and bring them to account? Then, write down a sincere duʿā’ for each group, seeking Allah’s mercy for the oppressed and His justice against the oppressors.
95. Now ask yourself: Is there anything you can personally do to support your suffering brothers and sisters, whether financially, through advocacy, awareness, or action? Write down a list of possible steps, big or small, and add to your goals list. Then, write a duʿā’ begging Allah to grant you the opportunity, means, and sincerity to serve each cause in a way that pleases Him.
96. Write a duʿā’ begging Allah to protect and liberate al-Masjid al-Aqṣā and the entire region of al-Shām from the oppressors, and to return the ummah back to its glorious days.
97. Write a duʿā’ begging Allah to bless you with a visit to al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, with peace and ease, and to accept you and note you down to be amongst the liberators of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā.
98. Take a moment to reflect on what the Muslim ummah truly needs today. What changes could transform its condition for the better? Write down your reflections. Then, write a heartfelt duʿā’ asking Allah to bless the ummah with these improvements, and to make you, your loved ones and progeny sincere and a means of bringing about such transformation.
Duʿa for Others
Let your ḥajj be filled with duʿās of love, gratitude, and generosity: for those who asked, and those who didn’t.
“No Muslim servant supplicates for his brother behind his back except that the angel says: And for you the same.” – Prophet Muhammad ﷺ (Muslim)
99. Has anyone asked you to make duʿā’ for them? Note them down with care and sincerity.
100. Now think: is there anyone who hasn’t asked you for duʿā’ — someone you haven’t already included — yet who deserves your duʿā’? Perhaps a relative, a teacher, a kind friend, or someone who helped you in a quiet way. List these people, reflect on why they deserve your duʿā’, and then write a heartfelt, personal duʿā’ for each of them by name.
Don’t limit yourself to your own duʿā’ list. Include powerful duʿās from the Qur’ān and Sunnah (such as those found in the Life with Allah duʿā’ book/app), and any heartfelt duʿās that arise spontaneously. Allah is al-Karīm (the Most Generous) so keep asking, without hesitation or limit.
May Allah ﷻ accept all your duʿās. Āmīn.
