For the second day in a row, Israeli settlers lit candles in a menorah at Bab al-Qaṭṭānīn (Cotton Gate), one of the gates of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā, as part of the Hanukkah festival. This was accompanied by dancing and prayers on the steps facing the gate. The settlers have announced their intention to light a candle at the gate on every night of the Jewish festival. It is important to note that the occupation closes the Cotton Gate every evening before the ʿIshāʾ prayer, preventing Muslim worshippers’ access while facilitating settler presence in the area. These actions are a continued violation of the sanctity of al-Masjid al-Aqṣā.
